Classic Loves Contemporary

Don't  we all dream about the ultimate wardrobe. The one that has those great basics with a mix of the seasonal must haves. Affordable Luxury, designed by Ewa Larsson, is a collection with feminine and classic garments. We have hand-picked our favourites from AL and matched them with clothes from our regular collections.

ALMIX-2
A classic and chic look is always in fashion. Mix a black tailored skirt with a soft white patterned top, a beige snood and top it off with a tote bag in autumn's winding snake pattern.
ALMIX3
You'll get perfect proportions by styling the boat neckline blouse with a pair of wide patterned trousers. Add an amber ring as the only jewellery and let the trousers play the leading role.
ALMIX4
Tweed is always an autumn favourite and also this season. Style  it with a blouse with transparent arms and back for an exciting mix of materials. A pair of hammered earrings and classic bag completes the look.
ALMIX1
The leather pant makes a comeback. Pair it with a dotted top in mesh and the coolest blazer. Dare to wear a coloured bra underneath  and be sparse with the jewellery. A big ring in the limelight is enough.

Time for warmth, time for tea and scones

Tea -and -scones

In store and here at lindex.com we have winter warmers which save the cold days - lots of accessories to spice up your outfit.

Another, more tasty winter warmer, is the English glory, tea and scones. Preferably served with jam and cream.

In the mood for making your own little warmers? Here's a yummy recipe:

Ingredients
225g/8oz self raising flour
pinch of salt
55g/2oz butter
25g/1oz caster sugar
150ml/5fl oz milk
1 free-range egg, beaten

Preparation method
1. Heat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
2. Mix together the flour and salt and rub in the butter.
3. Stir in the sugar and then the milk to get a soft dough.
4. Turn on to a floured work surface and knead very lightly. Pat out to a round 2cm/¾in thick. Use a 5cm/2in cutter to stamp out rounds and place on a baking sheet. Lightly knead together the rest of the dough and stamp out more scones to use it all up.
5. Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg. Bake for 12-15 minutes until well risen and golden.
6. Cool on a wire rack and serve with butter and good jam and maybe some clotted cream.

Stylish warmers

WWblogg

When the temperature drops warming accessories are a nice necessity. They can really spice up your outfit. It may be that scarf or those gloves that lifts your look to new dimensions. The autumn accessories are perfectly matched for you to mix in endless combinations. Material such as fur together with tweed we think is a real winning combination this season. And what could be more lovely than, when the autumn leaves have faded and the landscape turns to grey, to walk proudly in signal colours such burgundy, turquoise and pink?

Long live the little details!

Checking out our new employees

Sarah

She is from Gothenburg and has just landed a sought after job at Lindex Purchase Department. Her name is Sarah Torkelsson and she is 27 years old and works as a designer at Lindex Accessory Department.

- The thought of working in design and fashion started already at upper secondary school. After passing the GCE's  I took two preparing courses; sewing to get the basics in tailoring and textile and form to get the basic knowledge which is a must if you want to continue with higher studies.  After them two courses I applied to Borås Textilhögskola and took a master in Fashion & Design, an education which is 5 years long. I knew what I wanted and made a plan to get there. I have also worked at Gina Tricot and had an internship at Weekday. I know I am lucky to have a designer job. It's all about gathering that extra experience, so you finally reach your goals.

As a designer you have to have a subtle intuition and be prepared to trust your gut feeling. The quick way of thinking Sarah was taught at the education in Borås. A school with a good reputation, also in Europe.

The flair then. The feeling that makes you choose the right accessory for the season. It is so important since it is the accessories that complete the look. It is that scarf or those earrings which is the icing on the cake.

-The accessories plays an important part in Lindex' new concept Get the Look, which is all about that we offer the customer a whole outfit. We are our customers' best styling friend if you may. This is what most fun about my job is; to co ordinate the assortment, build a totality and make sure our accessories works with our other supply, Sarah says.

The spring and summer collections are being finalized at this stage and the trend scouting for the autumn has started. As a designer it is vital to boost the inspiration. Sarah gets inspired in the crazy, fast and conscious Tokyo and of course London, the constant vibrating fashion city.

- When I am not at work I keep updated by looking at people in the city and read blogs. It is very interesting to see what people choose to top their look with. The bus travels to work has become so much more fun!

Linda -L

Next employee we meet is Linda Larsson, 26 years old from Vänersborg, now based in Gothenburg. Linda today works as an Assistant Designer at Lindex Contemporary Department.

Linda also started her design journey by studying preparing textile courses, for Linda's part the road started at Stenebyskolan in Dalsland. Then the compass turned to London and an internship at Preen and in Sweden at Whyred and Stylein.

- I applied for the job at Lindex this summer and got a call the day after saying that they wanted me to come for an interview. I got the job and started this august. I chose Lindex because I was interested how I could apply my educational knowledge to the exciting commercial thinking which Lindex has.

Linda is part of a small design team at the Contemporary department. It is a concept at Lindex which offers a more dressed and smart fashion. Linda works with one designer, before it was two, which means more responsibility. Something that is more exciting and challenging according to Linda.

- It felt extra stimulating to work with the collections for Contemporary where we have a customer who is looking for items with a high trend factor but still have a base in classical, well-dressed fashion and since I am right in the target group, this was really something that attracted me.

The big fashion shows in New York, London, Milano and Paris are over. Lindex translates the big catwalk trends to passable everyday outfits and therefore you have to be on the target. Linda and the team have just started with the sketches for the autumn collections. The red sign "competitive intelligence in progress" flashes with an intense light.

The mood boards for spring 2012 lays at the table in front of us and Linda wants to show and tell me all about it. She has that glow which only comes from someone who really loves want they are doing.

- The most fun part about the designer job is that no day is like the other and that I get to work with my biggest interest; fashion. I never experience Sunday anxiety anymore - instead I wait for Monday to come!

Were you inspired to do the same journey as Sarah and Linda have made? They both mentioned the importance of laying a proper ground to reach your goal. Make sure you study those courses who will take you to your dream education. And not the least, make sure you have fun on the way!

Stylish and warm

Outerwear

Staying stylish when the chill is in the air has never been as easy as this autumn. Our outerwear collection has something for everyone. Long parkas, quilted must haves, biker jackets, sailor jackets, the old school duffle coat ... The list goes on. Altuzarra showed the parka for autumn 2011 as the jacket to wear and Alexander Wang gave us many different looks when it comes to the quilted materials.

All we can say is, chill is a thrill! So dress up ladies and stay warm!
