The word preppy originates from the English word"pre-college
preparatory" and aims at the American and English schools where the
kids often wears uniforms. You know blazer, shirt, tie and trousers
for the boys and cardigan, shirt, tie and skirt for the girls.
In the eighties the book "the Official Preppy Handbook", written
by Lisa Birnbach, was released and the films the Breakfast Club and
Pretty in Pink was the hot thing to see at cinema. The well-dressed
style with all its attributes and accessories got a chance to reach
a greater audience. To put it simply, it was hot to be preppy.
Now it's 2012 and even if the style never really has gone out of
fashion, it has the latest season come back in full swing.
Our Holly & Whyte collection is a perfect example where the
classic style, with a modern twist, really comes to life.
Ready to get prepped? Here are some key items which define the
style:

1. The classic
cardigan 2. The cute
polka dot shorts 3. The
canvas shoes
3. The button down
shirt 4. The striped
top 5. The
chinos
When you style your look don't forget to mix your preppy items
with contemporary accessories. Let them be a little bit funky so
your don't get to plain. You want to achieve the modern twist. A
striped top in all its glory, but a striped top with cool sequins
over the shoulders - that's what we call the twist, the styling
move that lifts the classic to new heights and makes it hot, trendy
and so spring 2012.
